# Context snapshots for an execution

GET https://api.runtype.com/v1/logs/context/{executionId}

Returns the ordered context manifest of every provider request in one execution: each block's category, kind, size, and hash, without content.

Reference: https://docs.runtype.com/api-reference/runtype-api/logs/context-snapshots-for-an-execution

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — API key or Clerk session token

## Servers

- `https://api.runtype.com` (Production, default)
- `https://api.runtype-staging.com` (Staging)

## Request

### Path parameters

- `executionId` (string, required) — Runtime execution_id to read (for example exec_...), not the aex_... agent-execution row ID

## Response

### 200

Context snapshots returned

- `data` (ContextSnapshots, required)
- `success` (boolean, required)

## Errors

### 400 Bad Request Error

Invalid request

- `error` (string, required)
- `details` (list of ErrorDetailsItems, optional)

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Unauthorized

- `error` (string, required)
- `details` (list of ErrorDetailsItems, optional)

### 404 Not Found Error

No trace for this execution

- `error` (string, required)
- `details` (list of ErrorDetailsItems, optional)

### 500 Internal Server Error

Internal server error

- `error` (string, required)
- `details` (list of ErrorDetailsItems, optional)

## Types

### ContextSnapshots

- `executionId` (string, required)
- `snapshots` (list of ContextSnapshot, required)
- `truncated` (boolean, required) — The execution exceeded the span read ceiling; later requests are omitted.

### ErrorDetailsItems

- `message` (string, required)
- `code` (string, optional) — Stable Runtype validation code (e.g. MISSING_REQUIRED_FIELD, INVALID_ENUM).
- `path` (string, optional) — Dotted JSON path to the offending field.
- `suggestion` (string, optional) — Actionable hint (allowed values, accepted range, …).

### ContextSnapshot

- `cacheBreakpoints` (list of double, required)
- `contentCaptured` (boolean, required) — The run stored block text, readable from the blocks route. False under logging policy `redact`, and for runs recorded before block text was captured.
- `entries` (list of ContextManifestEntry, required)
- `iteration` (double, required, nullable)
- `model` (string, required, nullable)
- `modelRequestSpanId` (string, required)
- `removedSincePrevious` (list of ContextSnapshotRemovedSincePreviousItems, required)
- `reported` (ContextSnapshotReported, required, nullable)
- `requestIndex` (double, required, nullable)
- `seq` (double, required) — Execution-wide request order; the key.
- `startedAt` (string, required)
- `stepId` (string, required, nullable)
- `turnId` (string, required, nullable)

### ContextManifestEntry

- `category` (enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `toolDefinitions`, `systemPrompt`, `recordContext`, `conversationHistory`, `toolResults`, `currentUserMessage`
- `chars` (double, required)
- `estimatedTokens` (double, required) — chars / 4, never calibrated in storage.
- `firstSeenSeq` (double, required) — The snapshot where this entry entered the window.
- `flags` (list of enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `current`, `secret_scrubbed`, `unsized`
- `hash` (string, required) — Content address of the block: 16 hex chars of its SHA-256.
- `kind` (enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `instructions`, `record`, `tool_definition`, `user_message`, `assistant_message`, `assistant_tool_call`, `reasoning`, `attachment`, `tool_result`
- `role` (enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `system`, `user`, `assistant`, `tool`
- `toolCallId` (string, optional)
- `toolName` (string, optional)

### ContextSnapshotRemovedSincePreviousItems

- `entry` (ContextManifestEntry, required)
- `reason` (enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `pruned`, `compacted`, `reasoning_dropped`, `tool_item_dropped`

### ContextSnapshotReported

- `cacheReadTokens` (double, required)
