# Understanding the Runtype UI

Use the dashboard to build, test, and deploy AI Products. Use this page to locate
navigation, the command palette, list views, detail pages, and keyboard shortcuts.

## Sidebar navigation

The sidebar organizes the platform into four groups. Each group has its own heading.

The **Overview** group includes:

* **Dashboard**: Review recent activity and statistics, and open the main product areas. For more information, see [What is the Dashboard?](/user-guide/dashboard/what-is-the-dashboard).
* **Playground**: Test prompts, models, settings, and Tools, then save the configuration as a Flow or Agent.

The **Build** group includes **Products**, with **Agents**, **Flows**, **Skills**, and **Tools** nested under it:

* **Products**: Combine Flows and Agents into a Product, and expose them through Surfaces.
  * **Agents**: Build workflows in which a model selects tools and sequences calls.
  * **Flows**: Create repeatable, multi-step workflows with prompts, logic, and data.
  * **Skills**: Create loadable context bundles for Agents.
  * **Tools**: Create tools that your Agents and Flows can call.

The **Improve** group includes:

* **Evals**: Compare model and prompt configurations with the same test inputs.
* **Logs**: Review execution history. For more information, see [Working with logs](/user-guide/logs/working-with-logs).

The **Operate** group includes:

* **Records**: Store, retrieve, and use structured data as context for your Flows and Agents.
* **Schedules**: Run a Flow or an Agent automatically, once or on a recurring cadence. For more information, see [What are Schedules?](/user-guide/schedules/what-are-schedules).

The sidebar footer includes these controls:

* **Settings**: Open settings for **Models**, **API** keys, **Connected apps**, **Secrets**, **Billing**, **Usage**, **Integrations**, and **Dashboard** preferences. In an organization, you can also open **Team** settings. For more information, see [What's in Settings?](/user-guide/settings/whats-in-settings).
* **Help**: Open **Documentation**, **What's new**, or **Send feedback**.
* **Plan badge**: Shows your current plan. When an upgrade is available, click the badge to open billing. During a trial, the badge also shows the days left.
* **User menu**: Switch organizations, choose **Light**, **Dark**, or **System**, open **Account**, or **Log out**. For more information, see [Appearance and preferences](/user-guide/settings/appearance-and-preferences).

### Pages without a sidebar row

Some pages have no sidebar row. You open each one from the place where you need it:

* **Models**: Click **Settings** in the sidebar footer. Settings opens on **Models**. You can also select **Manage models** in a model picker.
* **Integrations**: Click **Settings > Integrations**.
* **Templates**: Click **Templates** on the **Products** page, or select **Start from a template** in an empty **Products**, **Flows**, or **Agents** list. For more information, see [Creating a product](/user-guide/products-surfaces/creating-a-product).

Each of these pages keeps its own URL. The [command palette](#command-palette) (`Cmd/Ctrl + K`)
lists all three in its **Navigate** group.

## Command palette

Press `Cmd/Ctrl + K` to open the command palette from any page. Type to filter
commands, or type a name to search your resources. The palette shows these groups:

* **Recent**: The Agents, Flows, Tools, and Products that you opened most recently.
* **Navigate**: Every sidebar destination, the pages without a sidebar row, every Settings section, and **Documentation**.
* **Create**: **Create product**, **Create agent**, **Connect an agent**, **Create flow**, **Create tool**, and **Create skill**.
* **Agents**, **Flows**, **Tools**, and **Products**: Search results, grouped by resource type.

In some editors, the palette also shows commands for the item that you are editing. For
example, the Flow editor and the Agent editor add **Get code**.

## List views

Most list pages share these controls:

* A view menu that switches among the views available for the page.
* A search field that finds items by text.
* Structured filters, on pages that support them.
* A row actions menu that lets you edit, duplicate, run, or delete an item, when those actions apply.
* Row checkboxes that let you select several items and apply one action, such as delete, to all of them, on pages that support it.

List tables use resource-specific columns. Status indicators can show states such as Active, Idle, Paused, Draft, and Failed.

## Detail pages

When you open a Flow, Agent, Product, or other resource, the available panels and actions depend on that resource. Most detail pages let you do these things:

* Edit settings, steps, and properties.
* View connected Capabilities, Surfaces, Tools, and dependencies.
* Run, test, publish, or deploy the resource.
* Review executions and debug information.

## Keyboard shortcuts

The dashboard supports these global shortcuts:

* `Cmd/Ctrl + K`: Open the command palette.
* `Cmd/Ctrl + B`: Toggle the sidebar.
* `Cmd/Ctrl + ,`: Open settings over the page you are on.

The Flow editor supports these shortcuts:

* `Cmd/Ctrl + \`: Switch between the visual editor and dev mode, when the Flow has at least one step.
* `Up Arrow` and `Down Arrow`: Select the previous or next step.
* `Enter`: Move focus to the settings of the selected step.
* `Esc`: Dismiss temporary panels or return from run details. The selected step, Inputs, or Output stays open.

The Tool editor supports these shortcuts:

* `Cmd/Ctrl + S`: Save the Tool.
* `Cmd/Ctrl + Enter`: Open the test panel.

The **Playground** supports these shortcuts:

* `Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + M`: Switch the chat between running your configuration as a Flow and as an Agent.
* `Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + J`: Switch between the **Chat** and **Payload** views.

In a Product, press `` Ctrl + ` `` to open or collapse the **Activity** panel.

### List navigation

The **Logs** page, the run list on an Agent, the **Activity** list in a Product, and
conversation lists share these shortcuts:

* `j` and `k`: Move down or up one row.
* `g` and `G`: Move to the first or last row.
* `Enter`: Open the current row.
* `/`: Focus the search field, when the list has one.
* `Esc`: Clear the active filters, when the list has them.

On the **Logs** page, `Esc` clears the selected entry or closes the shortcut list instead. The **Logs** page also supports these shortcuts:

* `r`: Refresh logs when live tail is off.
* `l`: Toggle live tail mode.
* `c`: Copy the selected entry.
* `?`: Open the keyboard shortcut list.
