What are Organizations?

Organizations are shared workspaces for teams that build AI Products together. Use an organization to share resources, manage billing, and collaborate with team members. Your personal account remains separate from each organization.

Organizations and personal accounts

You have a personal account and can belong to multiple organizations. The account context that you select determines which resources, settings, billing, and usage data you view.

Use the following lists to compare account types:

Personal account

  • Build individual projects.
  • Keep resources scoped to your account.
  • Work without organization members.

Organization

  • Build with team members.
  • Invite members with Admin or Member roles.
  • Keep resources scoped to the organization.
  • Share billing and usage across the team.

Shared resources

An organization owns the shared resources that its members create. The following resources use organization scope:

  • AI resources: Flows, Agents, Products, Records, and Tools.
  • Model credentials: Organization connections cover OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Mixlayer, Vercel AI Gateway, Tinfoil, Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI Compatible, Vertex AI, and Vertex AI (Claude). Members can use Runtype platform keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Mixlayer, and Vercel AI Gateway. Tinfoil, Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI Compatible, Vertex AI, and Vertex AI (Claude) require bring your own key (BYOK) credentials. An Admin selects Use for the organization to make a connection available to every member and detached execution.
  • Integrations: Organization connections such as Slack and Google Workspace are shared. Credentials for integrations that do not use organization connections remain scoped to the member who connected them.
  • Billing: The organization’s subscription plan and usage.
  • Execution logs: Logs for executions that use organization resources, subject to your plan’s retention period.

Credentials for providers that do not use organization connections remain scoped to the member who created them. Detached executions use an organization connection only after an Admin selects it for organization-wide use.

For example, Alex can create a Flow in Example Organization. Other members can work with the Flow because it belongs to the organization, not to Alex’s personal account.

Switch between organizations

You can belong to multiple organizations and switch between them without signing out. To switch account context, follow these steps:

  1. In the sidebar, click your account menu.
  2. Click Switch organization.
  3. Select the organization or personal account that you want to use.

Runtype keeps resources and settings separate for each account context.

Use separate organizations for client work, personal projects, and team projects.

Create an organization

To create an organization, follow these steps:

  1. In the sidebar, click your account menu.
  2. Click Switch organization.
  3. Click Create Organization.
  4. Enter a name in Organization Name.
  5. Click Create Organization.

Runtype activates the organization after creation. You can then invite members and configure shared settings.
